UTME 2025: JAMB Issues Strong Warning Against Fake News and Misinformation
The board stated that it firmly believes that certain parents are consistently being tricked, misled, and defrauded by their own children, as well as by some secondary school owners who keep spreading the myth that JAMB places applicants in testing locations outside of the towns where they have selected to take the test.
In order to do this, JAMB offered a monetary reward for proving any posting outside of the selected exam town in a statement released on Saturday by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin.
“Let’s be clear: candidates are free to choose the examination town of their choice at the time of registration. They are then assigned by JAMB to a center in that selected town.
The unfounded claim that candidates are sent to towns other than the ones they were chosen for is false, nefarious, and intended only to damage the Board’s standing. It never occurs.
“JAMB recognizes the value of candidates’ convenience and makes sure they can take their exams at any of the accessible CBT centers. While JAMB only assigns the applicant within the selected town, each candidate is free to select the place where they would be examined. Therefore, in order to counter this untrue but widely held belief, the Board is offering a sizable monetary incentive to anyone who can authentically prove that just one applicant is stationed outside of the candidate’s selected town.
“For openness and to avoid “judging one’s own case.” In order for the umpire to guarantee that the reward is delivered or that the Board is permanently cleared of the ongoing campaign of defamation, such proof should be sent to the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) WhatsApp Number: 08056003030 within the next 96 hours, the statement stated.
In a similar vein, the board stated that “Anyone who finds nothing wrong with airlines asking passengers to arrive at the airport two hours prior to the departure time should find nothing wrong with encouraging candidates to arrive at the CBT centers ninety minutes prior to the initial verification of the exam.”
“It appears that many parents are unaware of the necessary preparatory procedures, as they anticipate that candidates will spend no more than two hours on the two-hour exam.” Public entities are urged to be trusted to act in the best interests of the public and to be given the benefit of the doubt. As a government organization, JAMB is always dedicated to the public benefit. Anyone can be persuaded by a trial.
On a lighter note, a female UTME candidate demonstrated yet another level of gullibility when she refused to attempt any questions during this morning’s exam, following her grandfather’s advice to do nothing during the test but wait for divine intervention. Naturally, JAMB does not perform such miracles.
The statement went on to say, “Candidates are advised against superstitious and baseless dreams of reaping where they did not sow.”
