WAEC Shares Top Success Tips for May/June Exam — Here’s How to Excel!

For Nigerian candidates taking the May/June West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Nigeria, has provided advice on how to outperform their counterparts from the other four member nations: Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and The Gambia.

When asked how he felt about Ghanaian candidates continuously receiving the council’s top three international excellence awards year after year, Dr. Amos Dangut, Head of National Office, WAEC Nigeria, gave the hint in an exclusive interview with Nigerian Tribune.

Recall that students from Ghana outperformed their peers from the other four WEAC member countries, including Nigeria, which accounted for 73.5% of all exam takers across the five member countries, to place among the top three candidates with the best results in both the 2023 and the previous May–June WASSCE.
David Nii Commey Ankrah (first prize), Henschel Tabi Frempong-Manso (second prize), and Benedict Ofori Debrah (third prize) were the three Ghanaian students who are currently enrolled as undergraduates in Ghanaian universities.

Even if it is difficult to say, Dangut asserted that it is nevertheless true that in a class, someone must place first, second, third, and so on in every exam, including the WAEC.

He contended that if a student doesn’t come first, they should reflect on why they didn’t come first and then re-plan for a better outcome in the future.
