Nigerian applicants are not permitted to take the new WASSCE PC1 retake exam by WAEC.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) announced on Wednesday that Nigerian candidates are not eligible for the new WASSCE (PC1) resit exam. “Please Note: The rumors that WAEC is holding a “resit examination” for candidates do not apply to Nigerian candidates,” WAEC stated in a post on X. “However, candidates with exceptional grades can sign up for WASSCE (PC1) 2025, which starts soon.

Students can retake courses they failed in prior West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) under the “WASSCE (PC1)” exam program.

John Kapi, the WASSCE Head of Public Affairs, made the PC1 announcement on Sunday in an interview with JoyNews’ AM Show.

According to Kapi, the dates of the 2025 WASSCE PC1 exams are January 24–February 15.

Additionally, the WASSCE representative clarified that this program provides a quicker path for students to raise their grades.

Students have until January 8th to register online on our website or in internet cafés approved by WAEC if they view their results now and discover they need to retake one or two papers. According to Kapi, the tests will be held between January 24 and February 15, 2025.
