Entries are being accepted from Nigerian secondary school students for the 17th edition of the Mike Okonkwo National Essay Competition. The deadline for submissions is May 20, 2022.
The Mike Okonkwo Essay Competition was established in 2004 as part of activities to commemorate the birthday of TREM’s Presiding Bishop, Dr. Mike Okonkwo (MFR), and, more importantly, to contribute to the development of the educational sector.

Dr. Mike Okonkwo is the Presiding Bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), also known as Power in the Word, which has over 200 branches throughout Nigeria and the world. He is a modern-day Apostle whose life has influenced millions around the world. Many people consider him to be a father, and he is a pastor to pastors all over the world. Dr. Mike Okonkwo is a dynamic conference speaker, crusade evangelist, Nigerian national spokesman, and proponent of balanced Christianity.

The competition which is one of Dr. Mike Okonkwo’s Corporate Social Responsibility activities, is aimed at raising the standard in the educational sector in the country and at the same time sensitize the students by making them analytically minded so as to excel in their world by developing their ability to think through issues.
