100 Edo Students Get Sponsorship for NECO GCE
The Fortem Empowerment Foundation has funded 100 students for the 2025 NECO GCE examinations, marking a notable investment in broadening educational opportunities for youths in Igbanke, Orhionmwon Local Governments of Edo State.
This initiative, spearheaded by Founder and Managing Director, Mrs. Ann Usiagu-Muraina, is part of a larger mission aimed at promoting youth empowerment and community growth.
Mrs. Usiagu-Muraina emphasized that the organization’s support exemplifies its belief that education serves as a crucial driver for social mobility and a means of unlocking the potential in young individuals.
“Education serves as a means to engage the youth and acts as a launching pad for them to reach greater success,” she stated.
Students were chosen from secondary institutions within the council, such as Igbanke Mixed Secondary School and Omolua Secondary School.
The Headteacher of Igbanke Mixed Secondary School, Mrs. Evelyn Bioseh, praised the initiative, stating: “This commendable act has provided many underprivileged students the chance to take their school certificate examinations without undue stress.
The parents are overjoyed. They have brought smiles to many faces; may God open doors for them,” she expressed.
One beneficiary, Mr. Joseph Alonge, described the sponsorship as a crucial support for students facing financial obstacles.
Headteacher of Omolua Secondary School, Mr. Emokpae-Ogbebo Uwagboe, commended the foundation for alleviating financial burdens on families.
“Your generosity has relieved a significant weight from families and inspired our students with renewed hope and motivation. It is evidence of your dedication to education and youth progress,” he remarked.
Another beneficiary from Omolua Secondary School, Miss Emokpae Osakpamwen, referred to the sponsorship as an encouraging opportunity.
“Your kindness has afforded us the chance to pursue our academic goals with fresh hope and confidence. We appreciate you for giving us an opportunity to excel,” she stated.
Fortem has also enabled the establishment of a NECO examination centre in Igbanke, located at Omolua Secondary School. This centre is anticipated to mitigate travel difficulties for candidates, facilitating easier participation in exams.
The Foundation noted that both the sponsorship and the newly launched exam centre correspond with its dedication to assist young individuals through education, mentorship, and community-oriented initiatives.
“We are convinced that when students receive support, they evolve into capable adults who make meaningful contributions to society. We persist in our commitment to ensure that no child is overlooked,” the organization indicated.
These initiatives are expected to significantly enhance educational engagement and outcomes in the Igbanke community, providing a stronger basis for academic excellence and future opportunities.
