JAMB Sets 2025 Admissions Deadline for Universities

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reminded the country’s tertiary institutions about the specific deadlines for admissions set by the Federal Government for the 2025/2026 academic session.

In its Weekly Bulletin published on Monday, JAMB indicated that, as outlined by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, public universities must complete their admissions by October 31, 2025, while private universities need to finalize theirs by November 30, 2025.

The bulletin further noted that all other tertiary institutions, including polytechnics and colleges of education, are expected to conclude their admissions by December 31, 2025.

Public universities are required to finish the post-UTME screening process and submit their recommended lists through CAPS by September 30, 2025, while private universities must do the same by October 31, 2025, according to JAMB.

Institutions that are not prepared to start the academic session immediately are required to finalize and archive their admission lists within the specified timeline, in anticipation of delayed matriculation.

JAMB highlighted the significance of sticking to these deadlines to ensure a seamless transition into the new academic year.

It stated, “Attention all institutions and prospective students: The 2025 policy meeting, led by the Minister of Education, determined that all Public Universities must finalize admissions for 2025 by 31 October 2025, and Private Universities must complete their admissions by 30 November 2025. Additionally, all other tertiary institutions, both public and private, need to wrap up their admissions by 31 December 2025.

“Thus, all tertiary institutions should adhere to these timelines. Any university unprepared for the immediate start of the 2025/26 academic session should conclude and archive their admission list within this timeline, pending any delayed matriculation.

“As a result, all public universities must complete all preliminary activities, including post-UTME screening, and submit their recommended lists via CAPS no later than 30 September 2025, to ensure thorough scrutiny and timely processing. Private universities are expected to submit theirs by 31 October 2025.”
