JAMB Deletes Old WAEC Results, Reupload for 2025
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has instructed all candidates who submitted their O-level results before the release of the final 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to return to JAMB centers and resubmit their results.
JAMB indicated that all previously submitted results have been erased from its system to enable candidates to input the final WAEC SSCE results.
“JAMB has removed all previously uploaded results to permit candidates to upload the final WAEC SSCE results.
“Please re-upload your 2025 SSCE results to the JAMB portal promptly to qualify for admission consideration,” stated the board.
This mandate applies to candidates who took the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) with awaiting results, as well as those who had submitted provisional results before the official release.
Reason for the re-upload
The Board clarified that this action was necessary because many candidates began uploading the WAEC 2025 SSCE results before the final versions were available.
To eliminate confusion, the Board cleared all prior uploads, requiring all candidates to re-upload their results, regardless of whether they differ from those uploaded earlier.
JAMB stressed that only the final WAEC SSCE results would be accepted in the 2025 admission process. Candidates who do not comply may be at risk of being excluded from consideration.
What you should know
Students have experienced a tumultuous month. Following WAEC’s initial release of the 2025 WASSCE results on August 4, alarm arose when it was found that merely 38.32% of candidates achieved at least five credits, including English and mathematics.
This sparked concerns regarding Nigeria’s education system. WAEC paused access to the portal on August 9, then reopened it, allowing candidates to view their corrected results.
After an internal audit, the examination body rectified the results, increasing the pass rate to 62.96%. The error was identified as stemming from an incorrectly serialized code file that influenced grading in mathematics, English, biology, and economics.
This correction had a domino effect on JAMB’s system. Students who had uploaded results before the revisions were left with incorrect data. Around August 14, JAMB temporarily suspended uploads to address technical issues and to ensure that only verified, updated results would be accepted.
A few days later, approximately between August 20 and 21, JAMB reopened its WAEC upload portal. It cleared all previously uploaded results, even those that seemed correct, to start anew. This means everyone must re-upload, irrespective of what was previously submitted.
