Every year, a great number of prospective college students battle to be admitted via JAMB. Even some students who pass this test still need to take the university’s internal screening tests (POST-UTME). For Nigerians who aspire to attend universities, there is now hope: admission to a Nigerian university can now be obtained without taking the JAMB.
Ways to Get Into University Without Taking the JAMB
-
JUPEB stands for Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board.
One of the most dependable methods for getting into any Nigerian university without JAMB is to take the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB), which has grown in popularity over time. JUPEB is one of the ways to get in if you’re sick of writing JAMB over and over again.
The University of Lagos moderates this 9-month curriculum, which has been tried, tested, authorized, and validated. Additionally, they have other coordinating bodies spread throughout Nigeria.
You will receive a certificate upon completion of the JUPEB program. You can apply for direct entry into JUPEB-affiliated universities for admission at the 200 level with this credential.
Please be aware that JUPEB is also a challenging program before you leap up and down. This merely suggests that you should decide that you will adequately prepare for the test if you wish to participate in the program. You might not be admitted if you don’t.
It’s important to remember that JUPEB allows you to be admitted to ANY course. That’s correct, ANY course. However, as previously stated, you must be prepared to READ!
The JUPEB program lasts for nine months. According to certain colleges, the program lasts only one academic session. It is a one-year curriculum, to put it simply.

Pre-degree/Remedial Courses
Depending on the school, this program goes by many names (pre-degree, remedial, basic science, UPAS, etc.), but the result is typically to allow students to enroll in their school without having to write the JAMB.
You would be offered admission to your applying university’s 100 level after completing the pre-degree program. You must be aware that not all of the courses are recognized at this time, and your O-level results must be complete. After a year, the outcomes of your remedial predegree program expire.
It’s also important to note that the pre-degree program lasts seven to twelve months, and its completion does not replace a university degree.

Interim Joint Admission Matriculation Board, or IJMB for short
The Interim Joint Admission Matriculation Board, or IJMB, comes in third on our list. It was one of the few programs offered by Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) that allowed students to be admitted without a JAMB.
When the IJMB first started, its main goal was to assist northern Nigerian students in being admitted without taking the JAMB.
The platform is currently accessible in Nigerian universities. Make IJMB your top choice if your prospects of being accepted into a Nigerian university through JAMB are low.

Nigeria’s National Open University
During Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration, this initiative was created to assist elderly Nigerians in pursuing higher education. Like all other Nigerian universities, the National Open University grants degrees. You can apply to the National Open University without JAMB if you are working and wish to pursue higher education.
It has accepted more than 10,000 Nigerian students since its founding. Nearly every significant Nigerian city has a NOUN campus. You must apply using their online portal and then pay the necessary fees to be considered for the NOUN. Additionally, you would have to fill out a form and upload your O-level results.

The A-level is administered by the National Business and Technical Examinations Board, or NABTEB.
The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) A-Level program is an additional means of gaining admission to a Nigerian university without taking the JAMB.
Since the majority of students are unaware of this program, those who are are often accepted.
Students can use Direct Entry to get admission to the university’s 200 level, just like they can with any other A-level exam.
After completing the two semesters of the NABTEB Advanced Level program, a successful student advances directly to the university’s 200 level. Every course for the NABTEB A-LEVEL program is offered.
A minimum of five credits in pertinent O-level topics from WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB in no more than two sittings is required of candidates wishing to be admitted to the NABTEB A-LEVEL program. The NABTEB A-LEVEL program is also open to applicants who are awaiting results.
The approved NABTEB A’LEVEL syllabus, which covers university 100-level syllabi and above and must be taught over the course of two semesters, serves as the guidance for lectures in the NABTEB A’LEVEL program.
Together with JAMB-approved moderators in the authorized NABTEB A’LEVEL recognized institutions, the NABTEB A’LEVEL headquarters in Benin moderate the entire exam procedure.
The NABTEB A-level program is only for science students, in contrast to the JUPEB program. The majority of art courses are unavailable.
