Record-breaking! Over 2.03 Million Candidates Register for 2025 UTME—JAMB Confirms

2,030,627 applicants have signed up for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, according to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.

According to NAN, this is the most applications the board has ever received over the course of the UTME.

The board’s weekly bulletin in Abuja on Monday included this information.

According to the board, the exam’s registration period ended on March 8.

More than 1.9 million applicants took the UTME in 2024.

According to JAMB, the figure does not include applicants who enrolled to take the test at overseas locations.

200,115 applicants also indicated interest in participating in the optional mock UTME, which is set for April 5, 2025.

“To prevent cheating and preserve the integrity of the test process, the board put in place a number of creative safeguards this year.

“The effectiveness of the new system designed to detect such fraud is demonstrated by the numerous arrests of candidates who attempted to use forged A-level results for admission as a result of these measures.”

It further stated that candidates are strongly encouraged to follow the guidelines of the test and abstain from any unethical behavior while taking it.
