<\/p>\nThe West African Examinations Council\u2019s (WAEC) Nigeria\u2019s management has refuted reports in some Nigerian media outlets that it has recently instituted a retake exam for applicants who might require make-up papers for their senior school certificate exam (WASSCE). The exam will take place between January and February.<\/p>\n
According to the organization, the report originated in Ghana and was intended for Ghanaian candidates rather than Nigerian ones.<\/p>\n
John Kapi, the Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, is a Ghanaian employee of the WAEC office in Ghana and was cited as a source in the widely shared claim.<\/p>\n
According to the Tribune Online, WAEC Nigeria began offering its first private candidate exam series in 2017 under Mr. Olu Adenipekun\u2019s leadership as Head of the National Office. Ghana only started offering this exam this year.<\/p>\n
Both the present HNO, Dr. Amos Dangut, and Olu\u2019s Adenipekun successor, Patrick Areghan, who withdrew from duty two years ago, have preserved the pattern.<\/p>\n

Therefore, this set of tests comprises three of the organization\u2019s annual testing diets (and not a retake) in Nigeria. The other two are the November\u2013December exam (previously known as GCE) for private candidates and the lengthy May\u2013June WASSCE for school-based candidates.<\/p>\n

The head of WAEC Nigeria\u2019s Public Affairs unit, Mrs. Moyosola Adesina, told Tribune Online that the material was not intended for Nigerian viewers and that it was misleading because it was not for Nigerian candidates.<\/p>\n
According to her, the organization is ready to hold this year\u2019s edition on time, and the first series of the WASSCE diet for private candidates, which has been held for a few years and is typically held between February and March, has not changed.<\/p>\n
