Candidates answer two questions from Section A and all the short-structured questions in either Section B or Section C. The paper carries 70 marks and lasts 1 hour 40 minutes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Paper 3:<\/strong> A practical test for school candidates or a test of practical work for private candidates. Concept of Living<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This section covers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Classification of living and non-living things<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kingdoms: Monera, Protoctista, Fungi, Plantae and Animalia<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Levels of organisation in living organisms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Single-celled organisms, colonies, filaments and parts of living organisms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cell structure and functions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Plant and animal cells<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Diffusion, osmosis and active transport<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nutrition and cellular respiration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excretion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Growth and development<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Movement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reproduction<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Skeleton and supporting systems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Transport systems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Respiratory systems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excretory systems and homeostasis<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hormonal coordination<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nervous coordination<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sense organs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reproduction in mammals, insects and flowering plants<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pollination, fertilisation, fruits and seed dispersal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">B. Plant and Animal Nutrition<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The WAEC Biology syllabus 2026\/27 includes plant nutrition, photosynthesis and mineral requirements of plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Animal nutrition covers food substances, balanced diet, food tests, digestive enzymes, modes of nutrition, the alimentary system, dental formula and feeding in protozoa and mammals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">C. Basic Ecological Concepts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Candidates should study ecosystems, ecological components and factors, food chains and food webs, trophic levels, energy flow, decomposition, biological associations, adaptation and pollution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The syllabus also covers ecological succession, population factors, food preservation, selected insects, pest control and microorganisms in relation to humans and health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">D. Conservation of Natural Resources<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This covers the conservation of <strong>soil, water, wildlife, forests and minerals<\/strong>, including the need for conservation, conservation problems, conservation education, laws, agencies and benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">E. Variation in Population<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Topics include morphological variations such as size, height, weight, colour and fingerprints, as well as physiological variations including tongue rolling, tasting phenylthiocarbamide (PTC) and ABO blood groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">F. Biology of Heredity (Genetics)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Biology syllabus for WAEC 2027<\/strong> covers genetic terminology, hereditary variation, Mendel&#8217;s experiments and laws, chromosomes, transmission of characteristics, hybrid formation, linkage, sex determination and sex-linked characters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Applications of heredity in agriculture and medicine are also included.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">G. Adaptation for Survival and Evolution<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This section covers behavioural adaptations in social animals such as termites and bees, evidence of evolution and theories of evolution.
