JAMB Releases 2025 UTME Results, Withholds 39,834 Over Suspected Malpractice!
The results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, or UTME, have been formally declared by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, or JAMB.
Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of JAMB, disclosed during a press briefing in Abuja on Friday that 39,834 individuals out of the more than 1.9 million applicants who took the test had their results delayed by the board.
There are still 39,834 results that have not been made public. 1,426 of these results are being examined and processed, according to Oloyede.
Out of the total, 96 candidates’ results were withheld due to exam malpractices, down from 123 the year before, according to the JAMB head.
According to Oloyede, the Board is still committed to eradicating all forms of exam misconduct. He further stated that 1,957,000 candidates were confirmed to take the test, while 71,705 were There are still 39,834 results that have not been made public. 1,426 of these results are being examined and processed, according to Oloyede.
He said that 2,157 applicants had their fingerprints rejected for alleged registration violations; this number was well beyond allowable limits and is presently being looked into.
The 2025 UTME revealed the frequency of specific transgressions, pointing to potential systemic weaknesses or oversights in the administration and/or supervision of registration and exams.
“Identity fraud and biometric fraud of the candidate’s combined thumbprint were the main categories of the new trends that were observed in the registration and examination processes,” he stated.
Additional violations, he claimed, included candidates’ attempts to substitute themselves, double registration, and impersonation at the registration desk with the active participation of a few CBT Centers.
244 candidates were discovered participating in “WhatsApp runs,” where they subscribed to rogue groups that promised leaked questions, Oloyede continued.
To set a strict example, he claimed, their results had also been withheld.
He claimed that in certain instances, the entire syndicate conspired with CBT centers to use numerous fingerprints for registration.
He claims that as a result, the results of 3,656 candidates who provided “extraneous fingerprints” have been withdrawn, and some CBT centers involved will be subject to penalties.
Tigh Technologies Limited, Sascon International School, Maitama, Abuja, and Wudil Computer Information Technology were the centers he named. Penta M & Centre 2, Tambuwal LGA, Sokoto, Sokoto State, and Wudil, Kano State.
According to Oloyede, the police were questioning 80 individuals for their role in the examination malpractices, and the majority of them will face legal action.
“The Board has discovered that some of these candidates’ registration information contains superfluous fingers. This raises questions about possible impersonation tactics.
This category includes 3,656 applicants in total. As a result, the candidates’ results have not been disclosed.
Regarding juvenile candidates, he clarified that an exception was made for “exceptionally gifted” young children after the Ministry of Education decided to impose a minimum age of 16.
Only 467 of the 41,027 minor applicants who enrolled, according to the registrar, fulfilled the high performance requirements, and one was eliminated for exam misconduct.
According to him, the Board is still dedicated to giving those with disabilities the assistance they need to pursue higher education.
He stated that for the 2025 UTME, a total of 501 candidates were successfully tested by JAMB Equal Opportunity Group (JEOG) in 11 centres nationally.
Oloyede claims that although the findings are also being made public, one of them regrettably engaged in impersonation as well.
The registrar added that four centers had been delisted and blacklisted for technical shortcomings as a result of their poor performance.
He mentioned the following centers: Saadatu Rimi College of Education, Zaria; Adventure Associate; and Behind Sheshe Supermarket, Kano.
Other locations include Holy Saviour School 30/32, Old Ota Road, Adeleye, Aparadija, Isunba, Lafenwa, Itele, Ogun State, and Soronara Ventures Nigeria Limited Foundation Road, Umudagu Mbieri, Mbaitoli, Imo State.
Accordingly, he stated that a list of people who have been banned for engaging in fraudulent operations will be released shortly, along with information about their criminal actions.
Despite difficulties, Oloyede insisted that the 2025 UTME had been praised as one of the most successful in recent memory.
He promised further innovation to preserve the legitimacy of public exams and reiterated the Board’s zero-tolerance policy on malpractice.
“To check the 2025 UTME results, candidates should send by text message ‘UTMERESULT’ as one word to 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number they had used to register during the registration process,” Oloyede explained when asked how to check the results. Printing of the results will be possible later.
